On the stairs with a view of the town harbour where ‘Game of Thrones’ is filmed are the fifteen tables of the Horizont Restaurant. As soon as you find yourself in Dubrovnik, a city from a fairy tale, you are already filled with a special energy and you need nothing else, nonetheless there are all kinds of things to see and, of course, to taste.
Once more we have to turn our gaze to the Porporela breakwater, just 50 metres from the city walls, and once more admire what is seen on the stairs as well as on the table. Horizont has enough starters and main dishes that it urges you into a sweet and pleasant contemplation, and the best part follows when you see the way in which each dish is arranged. To start with we are served a light vegetarian, meat-free surprise which wonderfully cools in the warm Mediterranean evening. It is served so that you admire the art of the chef/designer, and only then you can eat.
With the fish soup with a rich appearance you can also eat gazpacho, and there then follows a colourful list of starters and main courses. The accent is on Dalmatian-Istrian cuisine and with mainly fish dishes. The wines are from Dubrovnik and Pelješac, the olive oils also come from Korčula. The shrimp and crabs are also bathed in various wines and you simply cannot fault the choice of food. In first place the staff recommend the tuna steak in a Dingač sauce, however you can also order pork, chicken or lamb dishes in very interesting combinations.
If you do not take one selfie and at least one photo for Instagram, then you have probably passed by the restaurant because the Horizont is a real Dubrovnik chocolate box, of which you will be convinced of when you also try their tris cakes. For the people who love beauty, it is time for them to visit Horizont!
