Is there anything better than having lunch or dinner right next to the Adriatic Sea? Yes, if you’re eating on the very coast just a stone’s throw away from the breath-taking turquoise mirror while you’re being cooled by the gentle breeze with the scents of iodine and salt merging with the flavours drifting from the kitchen... The name of the restaurant with what’s probably the best view in Rovinj is Puntulina and it simply blends in with the sea...

A few terraces and floors of a house restaurant that has kept its traditional mood and is decorated with countless small marine details. The stunning blue colour adorns the walls so it’ll feel like you’re inside the most wonderful old box of chocolates. The terrace is just perfect. Once you have a seat there, you’ll want that your vacation never comes to an end...

Puntulina is a fish restaurant where particular emphasis is placed on the rich wine list. Even though there are dishes that don’t contain seafood, if you leaf through the menu, you’ll see that there’s something even for those who are not that into fish. You have the classic beefsteak with truffles and green pepper sauce, turkey with pine nuts and fuži ( Istrian home made pasta) with boškarin meat (the white grey long horned cattle in Istria, a symbol the region). Fish, including the already standard sea bream, sea bass, John Dory and dentex, as well as squid, cuttlefish, shrimps and other crustaceans take centre stage.

The most interesting thing is the list of warm and cold starters you’ll fall in love while you’re reading the available combinations, raw shrimp, fish carpaccio, prosciutto with quince, sea truffles “brbavice”, cheese with truffles... Fresh and tasty, an ideal light introduction to the main course which just beckons you to order a fish meal. The selection of homemade pasta is rather large and we should point out pacchere, bavette, ravioli, pljukanci and fuži. After fish, pasta is definitely the next logical choice. The rich wine list containing more than 120 labels will make you stay and enjoy the open sea and island view long after you’ve finished your meal. It’s important to note that local, Istrian wines such as Pilat, Grota, Radovan or Poletti are a true standout.

Puntulina should be remembered by its cakes, especially the designed mille foglie that doesn’t look classic at all, but it’s so specific you’ll take a hundred photos. A perfect ambiance, a million-dollar view, the beach just five metres away... that’s Rovinj’s Puntulina for you. Fall in love with Istria and Croatia...
