Can there possibly be a more beautiful and pleasant place to have seafood than at Split’s harbour in a luxury restaurant overlooking the marina? Hardly. Once you feel the love the young team of chefs pours into preparing every ingredient obtained from numerous suppliers ranging from fisherman to farms in the hinterland, you’ll become a part of the culinary connoisseurs who always come back here (recommendation – make a reservation well in advance). Once you’ve had enough of looking at the sea and boats anchored in the harbour, it’s high time you take a seat, preferably at a terrace table, and scan the menu.

Fish comes first at Zrno Soli, but meat lovers won’t be disappointed either. The wandering prosciutto is proof enough. This is a beautiful piece of cured smoked meat that’s served on your table instead of the starter dish the moment you walk in. Have a couple of strips. A proper Dalmatian welcome!

But let’s get down to business and at Zrno Soli that’s – morski pjat (sea platter). Even though we arrived at a time when the menu is overhauled and the spring menu is rolled out (the same goes for the wines too), some things always stay the same. So you’ll get a platter with a wonderful potpourri of the best ingredients from the Adriatic such as fish, shellfish, prawns, olives, cheese... You won’t know where to start...

Zrno is where you’ll get to relish traditionally prepared octopus, homemade ravioli, scallops, shrimp and monkfish carpaccio, homemade pasta, dishes containing truffles, a wide array of meat dishes and even greater selection of fish... Flambéed noble fish, monkfish stuffed with shrimp, lobsters, rump steak stuffed with penny buns... there are just so many things to choose from that the best thing to do is to put down the menu and consult the waiter. Zrno Soli has it all!

The dishes are prepared in an ingenious, creative and superb fashion and contain the freshest ingredients. You’ll especially love the phenomenal selection of wines, champagne, rum and cognac. Alongside wines from across Croatia, the wine list includes wines from around the world. House wines originate from Hvar, Korčula and Imotski. They’re poured by the glass, but there are also wines falling within the category of top 10 most sought after and expensive wines.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, numerous sultans and sheikhs and many other prominent people have been blown away by Zrno Soli. A place where you’ll find everything you’ve ever wanted to try when it comes to Mediterranean cuisine. And everything you have will be second to none.

The first page of the menu has a saying by Tin Ujević, a famous Croatian poet. “Wine should be drunk to raise consciousness, not to diminish it.” That’s why you should come here to eat and have a sip. As often as possible, you’ll love it. Cheers!

Restaurant description:

The restaurant can be reached if you take a fifteen minutes’ walk down the waterfront from downtown Split. It’s located on the floor of ACI Marina administrative building so from the outside you won’t be able to see the elegant opulence awaiting inside. A larger room and a smaller, more private one where you can be isolated can take up to eighty people. The overall impression could be summed up by these words: a tavern for people who mean business when it comes to enjoying and eating.
