There are five types of dishes made under peka (iron lid), according to the menu of restaurant Lučica in the city of Split Spinut marina. Everything is made this way; veal, lamb, octopus, local rooster, and fish. These are classified as à la cart dishes, meaning they have to be ordered one day earlier and they include roasted skewered lamb and the triljska zdila s komoštri, as they call a caldron hanging by the chain above the fire. The rest is classic, fish and meat.
Fans of lamb tripe will have to look for this under the name of šiša, as this is how they call it in the area of Dalmatian Zagora. Meat dishes include four types of boiled meat: lamb, beef, rooster, and veal shank. There is, of course, traditional pašticada (beef stew) with gnocchi but also a goulash made of boar meat.
A smiling and warm-welcoming waiter assures us that, given the day and time of day, it is best to order tuna prosciutto and cheese, rather than the requested seasonal fish carpaccio. The served pieces of smoked tuna were delicious and wonderfully accompanied by cheese. The plate was garnished with green and black olives of an average quality but the rocket salad and capers were very good. As was the thin pogača bread. It is very difficult to forget the beautiful taste of cherry tomatoes with mozzarella in a fresh basil and Dalmatian olive oil sauce.
The list of white wines includes four very nice Graševinas, as many as six very good Pošips, a Pinot Gris and a Malvazija of trusted wineries, whereas red wines are represented by various types of Plavac.
Lučica is located in marina Spinut, and therefore the view from the terrace is that of moored yachts, which will be a treat for sailing lovers and surely others will not mind the view either.
