Wanting to enjoy a Mediterranean terrace overlooking the sea, we ventured a bit further away from the bustling city centre. Local foodies advised us not to skip Kadena, but seeing and tasting are believing. What welcomed us was a modern interior with the very best seafood selection proudly on display. As soon as we got in, we were welcomed by magnificent specimens of fish, crabs and shellfish in ice, ready for the chef to get his hands on them and work his culinary magic.

While storing the mental image of what we’d just witnessed, we went towards the enormous terrace boasting a stunning view of the big blue and the islands where phenomenal wines come to life. We scanned the wine list hoping to find them. And we weren’t disappointed. We could have spent hours ruminating approximately four hundred carefully selected labels, but we decided to put our trust in the sommelier’s expertise so as to get something to eat before it gets dark. While having a nice chat, we came to the conclusion regarding the best choice with the food we picked out. It was also brought to our attention that a great deal of super wines are poured by the glass. A part of the restaurant is comprised of a lounge bar where guided wine tastings take place. A place-to-be for wine lovers!

The synaesthesia of sights, flavours and scents at Kadena is like a jigsaw puzzle with no missing pieces. The guest keep coming back for more to overcome their curiosity. Like a Dalmatian klapa, the menu opens with a couvert - tuna pâté with Vis capers and sun-dried tomatoes. The fleur de sal and red pepper groats will crackle in your mouth with flavours bursting in small outbursts of pure delight. Homemade pasta filled with bošakrin stew is drenched in a crimson beetroot and tender chees ripened in mišina (lamb bellows) after which it makes perfect sense to lose yourself in green vellutata as soft as silk and shrimp that remind us that there’s only one Adriatic. Even the simplest dish at Kadena is not usual or something you’ve already seen. John Dory fillet with sun-dried tomatoes sauce and potatoes is a four-piece sonnet with each piece having impeccably pure flavours. For the road you have a chocolate cake with Belgian chocolate that you’ll remember for a long time with a smile upon your face and a promise to come back. We concluded that the synaesthesia of sights, flavours and scents at Kadena is like a jigsaw puzzle with no missing pieces so it’s no wonder that guests keep coming back for more to quench their curiosity.

Restaurant description:

Restaurant Kadena is located at Zenta above the small harbour and the beach. The restaurant’s terrace offers a view of Brač, Šolta and Hvar. The guests will get to enjoy the view even during winter given that there’s only a glass pane standing in the way. There’s an entire wall decorated with bottles in the exclusively furbished restaurant hall. The restaurant also serves as a show room displaying more than 400 quality and superior quality wines presented to the guests by sommelier Damir Slavaković. A great deal of superior wines are poured by the glass. A part of the restaurant is comprised of a lounge bar where guided wine tastings often take place. Creativity and sophisticated preparation of the very best ingredients are the primary characteristics of their cuisine. Aside from individual orders, you can try fish and meat delicacies in a large number of courses set up in tasting menus.
