Josip Franković and his family espouse a simple philosophy with regard to wine production which they perceive as an art form you live and feel. Josip has passed his love of nature and a passion for horses and horseback riding on to his children, daughter Laura and son Mario who are just as passionate when working in the vineyards and cellar, as well as taking care of promotion and sales.

Even though this winery is relatively young, Franković wines have shown they had extraordinary potential from the very beginning, while devotion and passion produced results very quickly: Muscat Momjanski Luna d’ Oro was proclaimed the best wine in the Muscat category at last year’s Vinistra and just a few months later its exceptional quality was recognised by judges at the Decanter World Wine Awards competition who awarded it the golden medal and staggering 95 points. One of the reasons why this sweet, tractable wine with pronounced grape and dried fruit aromas has captivated wine lovers is the vinification process which uses a special dried grapes method – passito. Apart from Muscat, Malvasia Korona sur lie harvest 2015 also won the Decanter silver in 2017.

This year has also proven to be successful so Franković wines won 4 golden medals at this year’s Vinistra and again they won two medals at Decanter: 2017 Teran won silver with 90 points, while Malvasia Korona sur lie harvest 2016 won gold.

Aged Korona sur lie Malvasia gets better each year so it rather obvious that being stored in wooden barrels for ten months does the trick. Malvasia has a full taste, it develops honey and vanilla aromas on the palate with the aftertaste still tickling your taste buds for a long time after you try it.

In addition to Malvasia, Muscat and Teran for which they have great expectations for the future, winery Franković also makes Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon i Rosé, while recently they rolled out a harmonious and fresh sparkling wine called Stella.
