The clearing of the soil, deep ploughing and sowing with the addition of humus ten years ago marked the beginning of the work of the ‘Maslina i vino’ (‘Olive and Wine’) agricultural cooperative in Polača, in Ravni Kotari.
In the largest ecological olive plantation in Croatia, over more than 50 hectares of burnt and demined land, there are more than 12,000 trees from which last year around 120,000 kilogrammes of olives were harvested, which is 12 wagon loads. This imaginary railroad composition would circle one football pitch completely.
The cooperative refines the fruits of the oil varieties of olives Leccino, Pendolino and Oblica into an excellent extra virgin olive oil that regularly wins gold medals at the most important Dalmatian appraisals.
They have Picholine, Tenere and five more table varieties for the production of oil of various preparations.
